Post Care

The treatment may end in the room. Your results continue at home.

Thoughtful aftercare supports your skin as it recovers and helps you understand what to expect following treatment.

ProCell MD Microchanneling

Simple guidance to protect your skin, support healing and maximize your treatment results.

First 90 Minutes

During this initial period, avoid touching the treated area or allowing it to come into contact with phones, clothing, bedding, pillows or other surfaces. Do not apply makeup or skin care products unless they were specifically provided or applied by your ProCell practitioner. Avoid direct sun exposure.

First 24 Hours

After the initial 90-minute period, a broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher may be applied.

Avoid:

  • Makeup on the treated area
  • Vigorous exercise or excessive sweating
  • Saunas, steam rooms and very hot showers
  • Swimming pools, hot tubs and bodies of water
  • Unprotected sun exposure

Keep your skin comfortably hydrated and do not allow it to become excessively dry.

What You May Notice

Mild redness, warmth, tightness, sensitivity, itching or a light sunburn-like appearance may occur as the skin heals. These reactions are generally expected following microchanneling.

Beginning 24 Hours After Treatment

If you were provided the ProCell Step 1 & 2 Aftercare Serums, use them morning and evening:

  1. Gently cleanse the skin.
  2. Apply Step 1 — Cellular Renewal Serum.
  3. Allow approximately 60–90 seconds for absorption.
  4. Apply Step 2 — Healing Accelerator Serum.
  5. Apply an approved moisturizer if needed.
  6. In the morning, finish with a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher.

Pause Strong Active Ingredients

Avoid retinoids, tretinoin, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid, AHA/BHA exfoliants, vitamin C serums and other strong active ingredients for approximately 5–7 days. Reintroduce them gradually once the initial healing period is complete or as directed by Marissa.

Other Treatments

As a general guideline, avoid additional procedures such as chemical peels, IPL, laser treatments, neurotoxins or dermal fillers for approximately 2 weeks after microchanneling unless otherwise directed by your medical provider.

Acne-Prone Skin

Some clients may experience a temporary breakout as existing congestion moves toward the surface more quickly.

If you experience an unexpected or concerning reaction, contact Best Face Forward Esthetics.

GLACĒ

Post-treatment guidance to keep your skin hydrated, comfortable and protected.

What You May Notice

Mild redness or tightness may occur after treatment and typically resolves within several hours to a day.

Less commonly, you may notice temporary:

  • Acne-like breakouts
  • Light peeling
  • Tingling
  • Small areas of pinpoint redness
  • Localized swelling

If you have concerns about how your skin is responding, contact Best Face Forward Esthetics.

Keep the Skin Clean & Hydrated

Use a gentle cleanser and non-comedogenic moisturizer as recommended by Marissa. Keep the treated areas clean and well hydrated while your skin settles.

Sun Protection

Avoid unnecessary sun exposure and use a broad-spectrum sunscreen of at least SPF 30. Continue diligent sun protection throughout your treatment course.

Avoid Waxing

Do not wax the treated area for 7 days following treatment to help avoid unnecessary irritation or trauma to the skin.

Ongoing Treatment

Your treatment plan and number of sessions will depend on your skin condition, goals and individual response. Maintenance treatments may be recommended based on Marissa’s assessment and your skin care goals.

Nordlys IPL

Post-treatment guidance for caring for your skin following Nordlys IPL.

Immediately After Treatment

Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher to treated areas and avoid unnecessary sun exposure.

Same Day

Avoid saunas, strenuous exercise and activities that may cause excessive heat in the treated area for approximately 24 hours.

A temporary feeling of tightness may occur. Do not scrub, scratch or pick at treated areas. Use a gentle moisturizer as needed for comfort.

For approximately 1–2 weeks, avoid peels and aggressive cleansers or exfoliating products until the skin has fully settled.

If possible, avoid makeup other than sunscreen and moisturizer for the first 24 hours.

Pigment Changes

Treated brown pigment may temporarily appear darker after treatment. This is an expected response and may be covered with makeup if desired.

Benign Pigmented Lesions

Mild redness and swelling can occur. Treated pigmented areas may temporarily darken and gradually fade over approximately 7–14 days. Avoid scratching or picking, and keep the skin moisturized until healing is complete.

Vascular Lesions

Slight redness, swelling and tightness may occur for several minutes to a few hours after treatment. Temporary dryness or peeling may also occur; apply moisturizer as needed.

For 1–2 Weeks

  • Avoid direct sun exposure to the treated area.
  • Use broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher and reapply regularly when exposed to daylight.
  • Continue using a gentle daily moisturizer.

Contact Best Face Forward Esthetics promptly if you experience severe or continued discomfort, blistering or another unexpected reaction.

Peels

Post-treatment guidance to support healing, reduce irritation and protect your results.

First 48 Hours

For most superficial peels, keep the skin cool and avoid anything that creates excessive heat or perspiration.

Avoid:

  • Hot showers directly on the treated area
  • Hot tubs, steam rooms and saunas
  • Swimming
  • Vigorous exercise or excessive sweating
  • Loofahs, scrubs or other mechanical exfoliation
  • Direct heat from a hair dryer
  • Ice or ice water directly on the treated skin

Do not pick, pull or peel away any loosening skin.

What You May Notice

You may experience temporary redness, tightness, dryness or light flaking for several days. Not every professional peel causes visible peeling. Mild flaking in localized areas can be completely normal.

Makeup

Ideally, allow the skin to rest without makeup for the remainder of the treatment day. If needed, makeup may generally be applied after approximately 15 minutes unless Marissa advises otherwise.

Keep the Skin Hydrated

Use the post-procedure products recommended for you and moisturize at least twice daily, or more often if needed for comfort and hydration.

Pause Strong Active Ingredients

Avoid alpha hydroxy acids and other potentially irritating topical products for approximately 7 days after treatment. Prescription retinoids and similar medications may also need to be held temporarily. Follow Marissa’s guidance and consult your prescribing physician before stopping any prescription medication.

Sun Protection

Avoid direct sun exposure, excessive heat and tanning beds. Use broad-spectrum sunscreen daily and protect treated skin carefully while it heals.

Other Treatments

Do not schedule another skin treatment, facial waxing, electrolysis or depilatory treatment until the skin has healed and Marissa advises that it is appropriate.

Deeper Peels

Medium-depth peels may involve more redness, swelling and exfoliation and can require up to approximately 7 days of healing. Follow the specific post-care instructions provided for your treatment.
